February 5, 2012

Congratulation to Wyatt Anthony Goodier  as he becomes a brother in Christ today, Februay 5, 2012.  His parents are Joe and Danielle Goodier.  His sponsors are Nick & Molly Goodier.

Living Well - In John 4, Jesus famously encounters a Samaritan women at a well and shares with her that those who drink of his water will never thirst again, it will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life. During our sermon series on Living Well we will be working on some practical ways in which we might drink of this living water through living a balanced life. Strengthened by the waters of our baptism we strive to balance vocational, physical, financial, intellectual, emotional, and social well-being so that we might discover spiritual well-being for the sake of sharing the wellness found in Christ with others. In the gathering area is information from previous weeks of our sermon series in case you missed a Sunday. So far we talked about “Vocational Well-Being” and asked people , “How might you nurture or live out your vocation in the coming weeks?”; “Physical Well-Being” and asked people, “What are you willing to commit to over the next 4 weeks to nurture your physical well-being?”; “Financial Well-Being” asking, “What will you commit to over the coming weeks to live financially well?” Join us this week as we talk about “Intellectual Well-Being.”

There is a sign-up in the back of the sanctuary for greeters, ushers, communion assistants, acolytes and nursery for  February, March and April, 2012.  Presently, we do not have someone to solicit people for the 8:00 am and 10:45 am worship services.  Please sign up for whatever time will work for you

NURSERY SNACKS NEEDED We are in need of some snacks for the nursery. We serve these to the kids during the services. The snacks that seem to work best are: Goldfish, Animal Crackers, Cheerios, and Teddy Grahams. Please nothing with Honey or Nuts as these are common allergies. You may drop off these snacks in the nursery in the lower level. Thank you for your support!

We are asking members and friends of ELC to contribute things that can be auctioned via a silent auction March 18-28 to support missionary work in Japan.   Please consider what you can provide that someone else would like to bid on and buy for themselves or as an Easter gift for someone.  You can contribute gift items, crafts, or baked goods;  you can offer tickets to events, meals in restaurants or your home; or you can offer services from sewing on buttons to shoveling snow.  Use your creativity, and think of how you can offer something for the common effort.   The auction will work as follows!  The auction will be set up on March 16/17 , so please bring your items in to church by Wednesday, March 14.  Please plan to be part of worship on those Sundays and Wednesdays to put in an offer or two or three!  The final bids will be settled by the beginning of the Lenten worship on March 28.   The highest (last) bidder takes the item. Things may be paid for and taken home immediately after worship that evening or as soon as possible thereafter from the church office.  Thank you in advance for your gifts!

This is important work you are called to and we would like to help support you.  On Sunday, February 19 we will be meeting to discuss forming such a  group.  Please join us even if you're not sure you want to commit to this group, so we can talk about the most helpful form of support for you.  We will meet on Sunday, February 19 at 10:45 am in a Sunday school classroom at the front of our worship area for a short meeting.
