MISSION TRIP 2010
Belfast, Maine
July 3-11, 2010

Belfast, Maine, is a small city on Penobscot Bay, lying on the Atlantic coastline.  Originally a seaport and ship-building town populated by the families of wealthy sea captains, it is now a picturesque vacation stop, full of one-of-a-kind shops and restaurants, and a lobster pound where lobster boats unload and sell their daily catch. The community at large is fairly isolated from the mainstream, and retains a lot of character from a generation ago.  Waldo County in general is rural and wooded, with a few family farms still in use. Hidden in the small towns all around Belfast, are many impoverished individuals and families, under-employed and in fairly desperate need of home repairs including winterization.  What you will meet with immediately are kind, common sense, down-to-earth people who are openly warm and welcoming, and genuinely appreciative of any help they are offered.

This is going to be an amazing trip! This is for ALL youth in 8th grade and older! Space is VERY limited, sign up deadline is Wednesday, September 23, 2009 along with a $50 registration fee to guarantee your spot! If the trip gets filled after September 23 you can be put on a waiting list!

MISSION TRIP MEETINGS will be held the first Wednesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. in the Youth room at English Lutheran Church. This is the only way you will be able to stay informed. We will plan fundraisers and have the signups at the meetings. We have songs, devotions and prayer to prepare us for the trip.  It is very very important that you come to them. Parents are STRONGLY encouraged to attend. The next meeting will be February 3. At this meeting candy sales and Applebee's ticket money will be due!
